Locate the View button, shown highlighted in green within Figure 3, above, and opt to view the items as icons by selecting the icon with four small squares, highlighted in red within Figure 4, below. If you want to link to the video clip in your folder, select the Link to File check-box as shown in Figure 5, below, before clicking the Insert button. Do note that this option will increase the file size of the presentation, although PowerPoint 2016 for Mac does some automatic compression. This is the default option, and will save the inserted video as a part of the presentation file. When you just click the Insert button without selecting the Link to File check-box, the video is embedded within the presentation. Whichever option you choose, PowerPoint will place the video in the center of your slide, as shown in Figure 6, below. Doing so will ensure that you can copy the entire folder containing the PowerPoint presentation file, your linked video file and any other files to another computer, and the links will continue to work. Then, insert the video within your slide. If you are selecting the Link to File option, you must first copy the linked video to the same folder that contains your saved presentation. Conversely, if the original video is deleted or renamed, you will see a message saying “ Media is not found”. Also, if the linked video is edited outside PowerPoint, the change will get reflected within the presentation automatically as long as the file name and location are not changed after editing the video. Contextual tabs are special tabs in the Ribbon that are not visible all the time. The Playback tab is a contextual tab. Locate the Start button, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 7, below, and click upon this button.Figure 7: Start button within the Playback tab Click the Playback tab to activate it. To do so, select the video so that the Playback tab of the Ribbon appears. You can also set the video to play automatically after the slide shows.
